Central Arkansas Falls 3-0 to UTSA, Still Looking For 1st Win
CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas is still searching for its first win of the season after dropping a 3-0 decision to Texas-San Antonio on Sunday.
Despite being shutout, the Bears began Sunday’s game with an offensive flurry. Kayla Hurley and Megan Moudy each had excellent shots in the opening minutes. Hurley’s shot went wide left of the goal and UTSA keeper Jasmine Kessler stopped Moudy’s shot.
Eventually, the Roadrunners took control of the match and broke the scoreless tie in the 38th minute on a free kick. A minute later UTSA had its second goal and went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
UTSA’s offense continued to apply pressure and got a third goal in the 58th minute, but the Bears didn’t give up.
Central Arkansas managed to find a few scoring opportunities in the second half with Brianna Lopez having the best chance with a shot from 18 yards away that flew over the crossbar.
UTSA outshot the Bears 11-9, including 6-2 in shots on goal. Central Arkansas keeper Lenha Kenstel started in goal and allowed two goals and had one save. Kajsa Pruner played the second half in goal and had two saves and one goal allowed.
Central Arkansas will be back in action Thursday when its finishes its Aug. 29 game against Arkansas State that was suspended because of weather. The game will resume at 5:30 p.m.
