Beach Bears split final day of Beach Battle on Bayou
After opening with loss to Texas A&M-Corpus, they come bai with strong win over New Orleans.
Baton Rouge, La. — The Beach Bears wrapped up competition at the Battle of the Bayou on Saturday in Baton Rouge, splitting a pair of matches to close out the weekend.
The day opened with a 4-1 loss to Texas A&M–Corpus Christi. The Beach Bears earned their point from the No. 3 pair of Ella Layzell and Brooke Sharp, who secured a straight-set victory. At the No. 1 position, Natalie Blum and Anna Linskey battled through three sets, narrowly falling 15-11.
UCA responded in the final match of the weekend with a strong 4-1 win over New Orleans. The Beach Bears claimed four courts, highlighted by a three-set victory from Madelyn White and Chandler Lawrence at No. 2, along with another key three-set win from Layzell and Sharp at No. 3. Ella Weibert and Allison Heck added a straight-set win at No. 4, while Anna Jaworski and Liliana Irizarry secured the point at No. 5.
Despite dropping a tightly contested match at the No. 1 spot, the Beach Bears controlled the remainder of the lineup to earn the team victory and close the tournament on a high note.
With the split on Saturday, the Beach Bears finish the weekend showing resilience and growth, responding to challenges and continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.
