Bears give up homer in 11th for extra innings loss to Bellarmine on Saturday
Bears got a strong performance on the mound from junior Charlie Christensen, who tossed nine scoreless innings

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine got a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning Saturday to pull out a 1-0 victory over Central Arkansas in ASUN action at Knights Field.
The Bears (13-20, 7-7) got a strong performance on the mound from junior Charlie Christensen, who tossed nine scoreless innings, allowing six hits and striking out five. He threw a career-high 127 pitches, with 89 strikes.
Senior Perry Titlow had a scoreless 10th inning before Bellarmine’s Casey Sorg homered on the first pitch of the 11th inning to end it.
Both teams had seven hits and committed two errors. UCA freshman shortstop Nathan Negre was the only Bear with multiple hits, finishing 2 for 5. The Bears left 12 runners on base, including the bases loaded in the 10th inning.
Bellarmine’s Mike Sokol (1-1) got the victory with five innings of relief, striking out 3 and allowing 3 hits. Titlow (2-3) took the loss.
Game 3 of the series will be played at noon Sunday.
