Narrowly Miss Comeback Bid at Home Against Tulsa, Fall 2-1
Tulsa jumped out of the gate, scoring two goals in 15 minutes to bolt out to an early lead

CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas couldn’t complete the comeback against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday, dropping a 2-1 decision.
Tulsa jumped out of the gate, scoring two goals in 15 minutes to bolt out to an early lead. The Bears went on the prowl in search of some momentum; Brianna Lopez let loose on a shot in the 22nd minute, but her look was off target.
Lopez’s shot represented one of just a few looks for the home team in the first half, but after the initial flurry, the UCA defense locked in, holding the Golden Hurricane without a score over the final 30 minutes of the first half. Anna Katheryn Harrell made five saves in the first half.
After regrouping in the huddle and mixing up the lineup, the Bears opened the second half on a mission.
Caroline Billings bolted forward after dishing the kickoff, ending up on the receiving end from Nina Mazzola and Trace Pavatt, scoring in just 12 seconds. Megan Moudy followed up with a quality chance just minute later, but the Golden Hurricane keeper stayed on top of it.
As the match progressed, play went back and forth, with neither side presenting much of a threat. Down to the final minutes, the Bears put four shots on goal in the last three minutes, desperately searching for an equalizer.
But unfortunately for the home team, none of the four found the net, and time expired as the Bears tried one more corner kick.
The Bears will regroup for another home match on Sunday, playing UL Monroe at 1 p.m.
