Little Rock, Ark. — The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears powered their way to a commanding 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-16) sweep over the Little Rock Trojans on Tuesday night, improving to 2-8 on the season.

A balanced team performance with sharp attacking and strong defense helped UCA to the win, with Mackenzie Vernon and Laci Bohannan leading the charge offensively.

Set-by-Set Breakdown:

The first set was a closely contested battle, with the Sugar Bears edging Little Rock 26-24. UCA recorded 18 kills in the set, led by Bohannan’s aggressive play at the net. The Sugar Bears showed resilience by overcoming multiple Little Rock surges to claim the opening set.

In the second set, UCA continued to execute efficiently, hitting .333 as a team. Vernon showcased her consistency, contributing timely kills to give the Sugar Bears a slight edge, winning the set 25-23.

The third set was all UCA, as they hit a blistering .359, cruising to a 25-16 victory to secure the sweep. The team’s defensive efforts stifled the Trojans, allowing them just 16 points.

Key Players:

• Mackenzie Vernon was a force at the net, leading the team with 13 kills on a .379 hitting percentage, adding 14 total points.

• Laci Bohannan posted a game-high 14 kills and contributed 8 digs, rounding out a stellar all-around performance with 15.5 points.

• Regan Harp also played a key role, recording 11 kills and 11 digs for a double-double, along with two blocks.

• Caylan Koons the Sugar Bears’ setter, dished out 37 assists while adding 8 digs and 5.5 points, orchestrating the team’s attack with precision.

• Alexis McDaniel anchored the defense with 26 digs, frustrating Little Rock’s hitters throughout the match.

Team Stats:

• The Sugar Bears finished with 50 kills and a .271 hitting percentage.

• They outdug Little Rock 69-55, showing their defensive dominance.

• UCA also registered 8 blocks compared to Little Rock’s 2, controlling the net with key stops in crucial moments.

The win marks another strong performance for the Sugar Bears as they continue their season, building momentum heading into the UCA Invitational this weekend and ASUN play.
