CONWAY, Ark. — Three Central Arkansas Bears were named this week to the 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America team.
It’s just another measure of the quality on this year’s roster as we’ve already talked about during the summer.
Senior safety TaMuarion Wilson, senior defensive end/linebacker David Walker and senior all-purpose back ShunDerrick Powell were all first-team selections. All three are from the state of Arkansas.
Wilson, a 6-foot-2, 215-pounder from Bryant (Ark.) High School, has totaled 265 career tackles and was UCA’s leading tackler in 2001 and 2002. He also has six career interceptions.
Walker, a 6-2, 260-pounder from Stuttgart, is a two-time conference Defensive Player of the Year in the Atlantic Sun (2022) and the United Athletic Football Conference (2023) and has earned numerous All-America honors over the past two seasons at UCA.
Powell, a 5-9, 180-pound running back/return specialist from Hoxie, topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark last season and was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award in 2022 while playing at North Alabama. He is a first-team All-UAC preseason selection.
UCA opens fall camp on Thursday, with the season opener a month away on Aug. 31 at Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Ark.
