CARROLLTON, Ga. — Central Arkansas went on the road Thursday night and handled its business, beating West Georgia 86-65 in a game that was decided less by drama and more by discipline.

The Bears forced turnovers, shared the ball and steadily pulled away to secure a conference win that checked several important boxes.

UCA took control early after Malchiah Marable opened the scoring with a layup. The Bears never trailed again, setting the tone by pressuring West Georgia into mistakes and turning those miscues into points.

By the end of the night, UCA had scored 27 points off 22 turnovers, which tends to simplify road games in a hurry.

The Bears led 43-34 at halftime, a cushion built on ball movement and activity on defense. UCA recorded 13 assists and six steals in the first half alone, showing little interest in playing slow or letting the Wolves get comfortable.

Ty Robinson set the pace offensively, finishing with a team-high 22 points. He shot efficiently, knocked down four 3-pointers and opened the second half with a jumper just 13 seconds in. Robinson later added a key three and free throws that kept the Bears firmly in control.

Cole McCormick added a career-high 15 points, highlighted by a fast-break dunk that summed up how UCA wanted to play the game.

Truman Byrne also posted a career high with 12 points, continuing the theme of balance that defined the Bears’ night.

Luke Moore contributed with scoring and playmaking, mixing in layups, a 3-pointer and assists as UCA continued to stretch the lead.

The Bears kept coming in waves, which made it difficult for West Georgia to generate any sustained response.

The second half followed the same script as the first. UCA matched its opening-half output with another 43 points and slowly widened the gap.

West Georgia managed a few perimeter shots, including a pair of second-half 3-pointers from Brady Hardewig, but nothing that seriously threatened the outcome.

Shooting efficiency also played a role. The Bears finished the night shooting well from the field and from beyond the arc, while West Georgia struggled to keep pace.

Combined with the turnover disparity, the margin continued to grow.

When the final horn sounded, UCA had put together a complete road performance built on pressure defense, balanced scoring and composure.

It wasn’t flashy, and it didn’t need to be. The Bears did what road teams are supposed to do — take advantage when opportunities appear and leave town with a win.

Key Takeaways
