UCA Women Fall Late to Little Rock 2-0
CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas’ women’s soccer team was two minutes away from avoiding its first loss of the season, but Little Rock University wanted its first win more.
Little Rock (1-4-1) scored twice in a span of less than 30 seconds. Serenity Thake scored with 1-minute, 27 seconds left in the game and Abbie Smith made it 2-0 with exactly 60 seconds left to play.
The loss drops Central Arkansas to 0-4 on the season, despite the Bears being the more aggressive team and out-shooting Little Rock for most of the match. Kelly Van Gundy had three shots in a 90-minute performance and Megan Moudy and Anna Kerr each had two shots. Brianna Lopez had the only shot on goal for the Bears.
Little Rock, though, did get more corner kick chances (6-4) and eight different Central Arkansas players received a foul with Caroline Billings and Kerr each receiving yellow cards. Little Rocks’ Mykena Turner also received a yellow card.
Kajsa Pruner took the loss in goal for Central Arkansas. She faced eight shots from Little Rock on Thurdsay night and recorded one save.
Central Arkansas won’t have to wait long to try to right the ship, playing UTSA on Sunday. Kickoff against the Roadrunners is set for 1 p.m.
