CONWAY, Ark. – A familiar foe will return to Estes Stadium and its striped field for the fist time in three years.

Former Southland Conference rival No. 19 Lamar will trek up to Conway, Ark. for Saturday night’s game against No. 7 Central Arkansas. The Cardinals represent one of the toughest opponents for the Bears in 2024, but have just one win against the Bears in their history.

That one loss for UCA came in 2018, but followed up the next year with its biggest win against Lamar, 45-17 in 2019.

Lamar’s offense ranks 62nd in FCS with 23 points per game and 340 yards per game. Its defense ranks much higher at No. 38 with 343.8 yards allowed per game and 20.25 points per game.

The Cardinals have been most successful on offense running the ball, averaging 165.5 yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry. Khalan Griffin leads the ground game with 492 yards and four touchdowns.

Quarterback Robert Coleman has completed less than 50 percent of his passes for Lamar through four games with 514 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
