The Central Arkansas women’s soccer team will host Alabama State on Thursday night at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex in Conway. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

UCA is still chasing its first win of the season. The Bears sit at 0-2-1 heading into the matchup.

The Bears earned a hard-fought result over the weekend. UCA traveled to Jonesboro on Sunday and battled Arkansas State to a 2-2 tie.

Freshman forward Jama Akpanudo got things started for the Bears. She scored just after halftime to put UCA on the board first.

Sophomore midfielder Megan Moudy followed that up with a goal of her own. Her strike gave the Bears a second lead in the match.

UCA led twice but couldn’t hold on either time. Arkansas State answered right back on both occasions to force the draw.

Bears aim to keep improving each week

The Bears have shown steady progress with every game this season and hope to carry that momentum into Thursday’s matchup. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Thursday’s game also marks just the second home match of the year for UCA at its Conway facility.

Alabama State arrives off a rough stretch. The Hornets sit at 0-4 and are coming off a 5-0 loss at Kennesaw State.

Scoring hasn’t come easy for the Hornets this year. Alabama State has found the net just once and has been shut out in three other matches.

Alabama State’s only goal of the season came from Serenity Safeeullah. She scored it in the sixth minute against Presbyterian.

Hornets have leaned on one scorer

Safeeullah was Alabama State’s top scorer a year ago too. She finished the 2025 season with three goals for the Hornets.

Thursday’s trip to Conway will only be the second true road match of the season for Alabama State.
