I-40 Showdown with Trojans set Wednesday night
First game in two-game series gives Bears mid-week opportunity to get playing time before weekend conference matchup.
CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas will host the Little Rock Trojans in Round 1 of the 2024 “Governor’s I-40 Showdown” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bear Stadium.
The game was pushed back from Tuesday due to weather issues. The second and final game of the yearly series will be played at Little Rock’s Gary Hogan Field on Tuesday, May 14.
The Bears have already wrapped up the showdown for this season, leading 20.5 to 5.5 with the two baseball games as the only remaining events.
The Bears are looking to bounce back from a three-game sweep at the hands of the Kennesaw State Owls last weekend in ASUN Conference action in Georgia. The Trojans took two of three games at UT-Martin last weekend in Ohio Valley Conference play and are 2-2 in their past four games.
UCA won two of the three games played against Little Rock in 2022, but the Trojans won all three matchups a year ago. The Bears lead the overall series between the programs 47-40-1, a series that dates back to 1964.
The game will be the first home game for the Bears since a 11-10 walk-off win over Jacksonville on March 30. UCA has played seven consecutive road games and had one home game against Memphis rained out on April. 9.
Wednesday’s game will be carried live on The Bear 91.3 and ESPN+.
UCA is also at home this weekend, returning to ASUN play against the Bellarmine Knights. Game times are 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Bear Stadium.
