UCA rallies late for 100-90 road win at Queens, staying hot in ASUN
Central Arkansas rallied past Queens 100-90 on the road as Camren Hunter scored 31 points in a strong second half.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Central Arkansas earned a road victory Wednesday night, defeating Queens University 100-90 at Curry Arena.
The Bears trailed at halftime but turned the game in their favor after the break, outscoring the Royals 60-45 in the second half.
UCA improved to 11-10 overall and 6-2 in ASUN Conference play with the win, while Queens dropped to 12-10 and 7-2 in league action.
Camren Hunter led all scorers with 31 points, pacing the Bears during a decisive second-half stretch. Hunter’s scoring helped UCA erase a five-point halftime deficit and build separation as the game progressed.
Five Bears finished in double figures, showing balanced scoring throughout the night. Luke Moore and Cole McCormick each scored 19 points, Javion Guy-King added 13, and Ty Robinson finished with 11.
The game opened with steady back-and-forth play. UCA scored first on a three-pointer from Guy-King, but Queens responded with its own perimeter shooting to stay in front. The Royals carried a 45-40 lead into halftime after hitting several shots late in the opening period.
UCA came out of the locker room with more pace and control. Robinson opened the second half with a transition three-pointer that helped shift momentum. The Bears followed with defensive stops that led to efficient offense on the other end.
Hunter tied the game at 67 with a three-pointer just over 10 minutes into the second half. From there, the Bears began to pull away, using ball movement and timely shooting to keep pressure on the Royals.
Moore played a key role down the stretch, making 11 of his 14 free-throw attempts to help maintain the lead. His work at the line helped UCA close out the game as Queens attempted to respond.
The Bears shot 54.5 percent from the field and continued to find good looks as the second half went on. The balanced offensive effort kept Queens from focusing on one scorer.
The win marked UCA’s fourth straight victory and second consecutive road win. It also kept the Bears near the top of the ASUN standings as conference play continues.
UCA returns home Saturday to face Eastern Kentucky, carrying momentum from a complete road performance built on scoring depth and second-half execution.
