Shulman adds forward from Hargrave Military Academy to Bears
averaged 11 points, 10 rebounds per game, sported a 3.0 grade-point average that Shulman says will fit UCA offense

CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas has added Malchiah Marable to the program, according to coach John Shulman.
Marable, originally from Washington, D.C., comes to UCA from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va. At Hargrave, Marable, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward/center, averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds per game and sported a 3.0 grade-point average.
He played at Maret High School in Washington, D.C. prior to that where he was a three-time All-State and three-time All-Conference selection and was named All-Metro.
“We are extremely excited about the addition of Mal to our family,” said Shulman. “From the first time we watched him on tape to the first time we saw him in person, we have been completely sold on him as a person and player.
“He adds valuable experience from playing in a high-level basketball program at Hargrave Military Academy. A system that has prepared him well for the next level. The offensive style he played in has many similarities to ours and he will arrive prepared to help our team from Day 1.
“It has been exciting to watch how easily he reads the floor and defensive coverages, all skills which will translate well to our offense. Mal has a great combination of basketball IQ, toughness, and skill, which are rarely found in a player his age. All of those things will fit our system seamlessly.
“We have no doubt that he is a tremendous addition to our roster and we are very excited to have him as part of our family!”
