Solid pitching, big hits lift Bears past Golden Lions in 10-3 win
Pitchers Jacob Pannell and Perry Titlow and nine hits get big mid-week win over UAPB before home weekend series

CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas made the most of their nine hits Tuesday in taking a 10-3 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Torii Hunter Field.
UCA also got solid pitching from a pair of hurlers. Junior transfer Jacob Pannell went five strong innings in his UCA debut, allowing four hits and one unearned run while striking out four.
Senior Perry Titlow finished it off with four innings, allowing two hits and two unearned runs and striking out three.
The Bears scored twice in the opening inning on an error and an RBI groundout by shortstop Nathan Negre. They added three more in the fourth on a three-run double by Negre.
The lead was pushed to 7-0 in the fifth on Zeb Allen’s two run single to left field.
UAPB (0-8) scored single runs in both the fifth and sixth innings before UCA put up three in the ninth on a pair of tripled by Sam Reynolds and Allen, along with two UAPB errors.
Allen, a sophomore from Fort Smith, Ark., was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Negre went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI.
UCA returns home this weekend for a three-game series with Central Connecticut at Bear Stadium. Game times are 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
