Central Arkansas learned its full path for the 2026 season after the United Athletic Conference released league-wide schedules featuring a balanced six-game conference rotation.

The structure remains the same as last season, with every program in the seven-team league playing each other once.

For UCA, it creates a clear road through October and November built around long trips, marquee home games and the sort of week-by-week tests that have defined the league since its formation.

The Bears’ 2025 league record included several narrow losses, a reminder of how close the margins can be in UAC play.

The 2026 slate gives the program a chance to flip those results, beginning with back-to-back October road games before returning home for Homecoming. The conference portion may be compact, but it carries weight.

The schedule also includes six non-conference matchups that span three home games and three road trips.

Those contests arrive early in the season, with UCA facing opponents from multiple regions and levels, including a challenging September stretch against a national FCS power and an FBS opponent.

All told, the 2026 calendar spans 12 games, beginning in late August and running through Senior Day just before Thanksgiving.

While kickoff times will be set later, fans can already identify the rhythm of the season and the major weekends that will shape the Bears’ year.

The UAC emphasized competitive balance in its announcement. By having every team meet once, the league ensures direct comparisons in standings without the debates created by uneven scheduling.

For UCA, that means each conference week will bring a familiar opponent with a recent history of close games.

As always, the mix of home atmospheres and regional travel will influence how the Bears build momentum across the fall.

With Homecoming, Senior Day and Hall of Fame Weekend lined up at Estes Stadium, the program will have multiple opportunities to bring crowds into key moments.

The slate gives UCA the kind of blend many FCS programs try to find: early tests, midseason stability and a November drive that can define postseason hopes. The conference made note of the variety of environments the league’s teams will encounter, from Texas to Alabama to Kentucky.

The Bears now have the layout. The next step will come with preparation, development and turning those close losses from the previous season into late-game confidence.

UCA opens with six-game non-conference stretch

The Bears begin the 2026 season on the road against UT Martin on Thursday, Aug. 27.

The opening Thursday date allows extra rest before UCA returns home for its first game at Estes Stadium on Sept. 5 against Central Oklahoma.

That matchup marks the first of three home non-conference games in the first half of the season.

A major test quickly follows as UCA hosts North Dakota State on Sept. 12 during Family Day and Band Day.

The Bison have long been one of the top powers in the FCS, making the game one of the most notable home non-conference matchups on the Bears’ schedule.

The road continues on Sept. 19 when UCA travels to Southeast Missouri State for a trip that often produces competitive, physical football.

One week later, the Bears step into an FBS stadium when they face Florida State in Tallahassee on Sept. 26. That game provides another high-profile opportunity to measure progress early in the year.

The Bears end their non-conference run at home on Oct. 3 for Hall of Fame Weekend, hosting Lindenwood in their final tune-up before UAC play begins.

After six games of varied opponents and settings, UCA will shift its focus to the league race.

Conference play sets the race into motion

UCA opens its UAC schedule on Oct. 10 with a road matchup at Abilene Christian. One week later, the Bears stay on the road for an Oct. 17 game at Tarleton State.

Those two games represent the only consecutive league road trips on the calendar.

After a bye week, the Bears return home Oct. 31 for their UAC home opener against North Alabama during Homecoming Weekend.

The program’s first conference home game arrives at an ideal moment, bringing students, alumni and families to campus for a major event.

The Bears continue league play on Nov. 7 with another home game against West Georgia.

It is the second of three UAC home games and provides a chance to build form before the final road test of the conference season.

UCA travels to Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 14 in what could be an important game for late-season positioning.

With only six league matchups, every result carries significant weight.

The Bears close the regular season Nov. 21 at home against Austin Peay on Senior Day and during the program’s Salute to Service recognition.

The finale gives the team an opportunity to honor departing players while finishing the league slate in front of home fans.

As the UAC noted in its release, full TV assignments and kickoff times will be shared later. For now, both the league and the Bears have their early framework for fall.

Key takeaways

  • UCA plays a six-game single-round-robin UAC schedule with three league home games.

  • The Bears face major non-conference opponents North Dakota State and Florida State.
