UCA hosting Bears Summer Shootout for full day tournament Tuesday
Sixteen high school basketball teams from three states will compete Tuesday at UCA for a one-day tournament championship.
Conway is getting a full day of high school basketball on Tuesday.
Central Arkansas will be hosting on its campus for a 16-team prep tournament that’ll run from the opening tip at 9 a.m. all the way through a 6 p.m. championship game.
It’s a big-time setup for a one-day event.
“We are excited to host the first annual Bears Summer Shootout,” Bears coach John Shulman said. “This isnβt like a regular team camp. This is a tourney style camp where a championship will be won.”
The Bears are putting both the main gym and the practice gym to work, with games running simultaneously on two courts all morning.
That means fans who show up early can catch two matchups at the same time before the bracket plays out to decide a champion.
The field pulls from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Tennessee making it one of the more geographically spread-out prep events this summer.
“We are excited to have great teams from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Tennessee,” Shulman said. “We want to make this an annual event. We are excited to have elite players and coaches coming to UCA for this event. Going to be a fun day of high level hoops!”
