CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas is headed out west to take on the Sacramento State Hornets on September 20 at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California. The game will kick off at 8 p.m.

The Bears (1-2, 0-1), are coming off a loss to Tarleton State in their UAC opener last Saturday. Despite the loss, the Bears are ready to get back on the field.

“We are ready to get back out there, but we have to take care of the football,” said UCA coach Nathan Brown. “We are -7 on turnovers this season so far, so we have to be better there, as always, the turnover battle is key.”

For the Bears, quarterback Luther Richesson has thrown for 519 yards and 5 touchdowns while rushing for 134 yards and 1 touchdown. Running back Landen Chambers has led the way on the ground with 5.4 yards per run, 207 total rushing yards and 1 touchdown.

Malachi Henry leads the Bears with 159 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively, tackle leaders Ny’len Jones and Ashtyn Williams both have 15 and Gery Lewis leads the way on sacks with 3.

Sacramento State (1-2, 0-0), under the guidance of first-year coach Brennan Marion, presents a formidable challenge.

Known for his dynamic “go go” offense, Marion has implemented an explosive playing style. The Hornets are utilizing a dual-quarterback system with transfers Cardell Williams (Tulsa) and Jaden Rashada (Georgia), both known for their athleticism and ability to take deep shots down the field.

Damian Henderson II and Rodney Hammond Jr have had the most success for the Hornets in the run game, both with over 100 yards rushing this season.

Ernest Campbell, also a transfer, from Texas A&M leads the team in receiving yards (167) and receiving touchdowns (2). Linebacker Derek Houston leads the team in tackles with 29 including 2 tackles for a loss and 1 sack.

This will be the first meeting between the Bears and Hornets. The game can be streamed on ESPN+ and you can listen the game on The Bear 91.3 or The Point 94.1.
